Lenten Worship Schedule
Sunday Worship in Lent, 9 a.m. & 11 a.m.
March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27, April 3
Palm/Passion Sunday, April 10, 9 a.m. & 11 a.m.
This is a day of “drama and paradox, of triumph and tragedy,” as our Book of Common Worship says (263). We begin by remembering Jesus’ arrival to Jerusalem, accompanied by adoring crowds, and then begin to move into the story of Jesus’ suffering and death.
Maundy Thursday, April 14, 7 p.m.
From the Latin word mandatum, which means commandment, on this evening we remember Jesus’ last commandment to his disciples to love one another. We commemorate Jesus’ servant leadership as he washed his disciples’ feet and give thanks for God’s forgiveness in Jesus Christ. We will celebrate communion at this service.
Good Friday, April 15, 7 p.m.
Jesus’ crucifixion and death happened on a Friday. This is the day where we focus on Christ’s passion and remember that, even in Jesus’ suffering and death, God was at work to save the world. This will be a tenebrae service--a service that increases in darkness as we remember the story that leads to Jesus’ burial.
Easter Sunday, April 17, 9 a.m. & 11 a.m.
This is our great day of celebration! Today we give thanks that death cannot overcome God’s love, and that Jesus was raises from the dead, opening eternal life to all. Join us at 9 am or 11 am for festive worship including communion, and children will enjoy an Easter egg hunt between services!
