Pastor Marvin Morgan

Interim Pastor

Marvin Morgan served as pastor of UCC congregations from 1970 until 1996 in NC, NY and GA and, for 15 years, served as adjunct faculty at Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, where he directed the Office of Continuing and Distance Education and taught courses in Church Administration, Missiology and Ministerial Leadership.  During his tenure at ITC, he oversaw more than 30 satellites located throughout the US, including Alaska, and in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Monrovia, Liberia, and Yokohama, Japan. He now serves on the faculty of the Center for Congregational Health, Wake Forest University’s Baptist Medical Center and has completed 16 years of Interim/Transition ministry.

Marvin earned degrees at Elon University (B.A.-‘71), Duke Divinity School (M. Div.-‘75) and Drew University (D. Min.-‘79) and completed Harvard University’s Management of Lifelong Education program in 1994. 

He currently serves on three boards, including the Board of Trustees at Elon University. In 2007, he was elected national Moderator of the 27th General Synod of the UCC. In the year 2000, he received the Service to Church and Society Award issued by Elon’s National Alumni Association.   

He is married to Mae T. Morgan, MD of Atlanta, GA. They have four adult children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
